There are various independent complaint agencies in Queensland and across Australia that will listen to you and investigate your complaint about government departments, local councils and private organisations. Each agency has different roles, responsibilities and powers, so it's important you direct your concerns to the right one.
Energy and Water Ombudsman New South Wales (EWON)
EWON investigates and resolves disputes between NSW electricity, gas and water customers and their providers.
Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria (EWOV)
EWOV investigates and resolves disputes between Victorian electricity, gas and water customers and their providers.
Energy Industry Ombudsman SA (EIOSA)
EIOSA investigates and resolves disputes between South Australian electricity and gas customers and their providers.
Energy Ombudsman Tasmania (EOT)
EOT investigates and resolves disputes between Tasmanian energy customers and their providers.
Energy Ombudsman Western Australia
The Energy Ombudsman receives, investigates and facilitates the resolution of complaints from residential and small business customers in Western Australia about their electricity or gas company.
Essential Services Consumer Council (ACT)
The ESCC facilitates the resolution of, and determines unresloved complaints and ensures, so far as practicable that utility services - elctricity, gas, water and sewerage - continue to be provided to persons suffering financial hardship. Hotline: (02) 6207 7740
Queensland Office of Fair Trading
The QLD Office of Fair Trading safeguards consumer rights and advises business and traders on fair ethical practice.

Banking and Financial Services Ombudsman
A dispute resolution service dealing with disputes that individuals and small business have with their financial service providers
Commonwealth Ombudsman
Investigate complaints from people who believe they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by a Commonwealth Government department or agency, including the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Defence Force. The Commonwealth Ombudsman is also the ACT Ombudsman.
